Custom Window Coverings Ankeny IA | Brackets

Choosing window coverings is a big decision that affects how a room looks and functions. But with all the options online and in stores, you can go mad sorting through styles that almost match your needs, but not exactly. Instead, let your local window treatment experts create exactly what you’re looking for.

At Brackets Custom Window Coverings, we’ve served Ankeny, Iowa, since 1996, offering custom shades, shutters, draperies, blinds, exterior awnings, and motorized screens, all precisely measured and installed by our team. When it comes to making your home your own, there’s nothing more luxurious than getting exactly what you need.

Our Interior Window Covering Selection

When we discuss window coverings, it’s not as simple as choosing between curtains and blinds. The range of options is much broader, and the right choice depends on your windows, your vision, and how you use each space.

Shade & Blind Installation

We offer Hunter Douglas window shades and blinds to suit any room style or functional need. Cellular shades add insulation for comfort indoors during Iowa’s coldest and hottest months, while roller and Roman shades offer clean lines for a sleek look. Woven wood and sheer styles add texture and filtered light without blocking views entirely.

We recommend vertical shades for large windows and sliding doors. For traditional light control, natural wood blinds add warmth to living rooms and bedrooms, while alternative wood options hold up better in high-humidity spaces.

Shutter Installation

Hunter Douglas shutter selections are crafted from real hardwood, durable vinyl, or long-lasting composite. Composite offers the warm texture of wood with added durability. Our shutter installation team can adapt to specialty window shapes, including arches, patio doors, and French doors.

Drapery Installation

We offer custom draperies through Carole Fabrics, a Hunter Douglas partner, with fabric and finish options that can’t be found off the shelf. Choose from pleated, non-pleated, and Ripplefold styles with room-darkening linings, tailored finishes, and hardware to suit your exact preference.

Exterior Awnings and Shade Solutions

When updating your home’s window coverings, there’s no need to stop with the interior. Brackets Custom Window Coverings offers exterior shade solutions including retractable awnings, patio awnings, motorized screens, and sun shades to extend outdoor spaces or manage afternoon sun. These solutions turn your deck or patio into a comfortable extension of your indoor living space so you can enjoy it more often.

Smart Controls and Motorized Window Coverings

After you’ve customized your room's style, adding modern conveniences is the natural next step. Motorization provides consistent light control without having to adjust every shade by hand and supports energy efficiency throughout the day.

PowerView Automation, the Hunter Douglas motorization platform, offers multiple control options. You can operate shades through the PowerView app, use a Pebble Remote, set a daily schedule, or connect to voice assistants including Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home.

Motorized designs eliminate exposed lift cords, making them safer for homes with young children. Rechargeable battery controls or wired systems are available to suit your windows and room layout.

A Collaborative Approach to Window Treatment Design and Installation
