Luxury Custom Window Coverings in Ames, IA

When the window treatment selection at your local big-box store doesn’t quite cut it, you don’t have to compromise your standards. Brackets Custom Window Coverings has served Ames and Central Iowa as a family-owned business since 1996. As Hunter Douglas-certified installers, our team of specialists works with you to bring your vision to life with custom window coverings, measured, designed, and installed with precision. With us, you get exactly what you’re looking for because it’s made just for you. Now that’s luxury.

See Every Window Treatment Option Before You Decide

Ideally, you’ll only decide on window treatments once, so it’s worth getting it right. Small swatches or website thumbnails just don’t give enough information. Our window treatment showroom in Ames lets you touch and feel actual fabrics, hardware, and shade mechanisms before committing to anything.

As one of only two Hunter Douglas showrooms in Central Iowa, we display the full product range in person. Our team will answer your questions and help you narrow options based on your specific windows and how you want each room to function.

Interior Window Coverings for Ames Homes

We carry interior window coverings from both Hunter Douglas and Alta to meet a wide range of needs and budgets.

Custom Window Shade Installation

Our shade selection includes cellular, Roman, roller, woven wood, sheer, and vertical styles. Cellular shades use a honeycomb structure that buffers heat and cold, supporting your home's comfort and energy efficiency. Most styles are available in either light-filtering or room-darkening options.

Custom Drapery Installation

We create Custom draperies through Carole Fabrics, a Hunter Douglas partner known for premium fabric options. Styles include pleated, non-pleated, and Ripplefold, paired with premium hardware and custom finishes.

Interior Shutter Installation

Interior shutters are available in real wood, vinyl, and composite materials. Real wood brings warmth and character to living areas while vinyl and composite are recommended in bathrooms and high-humidity spaces. Our team can fit specialty window shapes, including arches and French doors.

Blind Installation

Blinds are custom-ordered to fit your specific openings, with vertical blinds working especially well on patio doors and French doors. Our material selection includes wood, alternative wood, metal, aluminum, and vertical styles.

Motorized and Smart Window Treatments

Once you’ve chosen the ideal style for your space, modern convenience comes next. PowerView Automation works across motorized shades, draperies, shutters, and blinds. These systems allow you to control or automate your window treatments through the PowerView app, a Pebble Remote, or voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant.

Beyond convenience, motorized treatments help manage heat and improve energy efficiency and can be controlled to open and close, even when you are away. They also improve safety by eliminating exposed lift cords. As Hunter Douglas certified installers, Brackets Custom Window Coverings handles setup and ensures your system works correctly from day one.

Exterior Shade Solutions for Ames Patios and Outdoor Spaces

When your home’s interior looks and feels just right, why stop there? We carry a full line of exterior shade solutions to make your outdoor living spaces every bit as comfortable and convenient as those inside:

• Retractable Awnings: Motorized and manual options for patios and decks

• Patio Awnings: Fixed and semi-fixed configurations for larger outdoor areas

• Motorized Screens: Roll-down screens that block insects, glare, and wind

• Motorized Sun Shades: Exterior shading that helps to keep the inside of your home cool
